English Is Best Taught By A Motherly Figure

Research shows that students learn languages from an elderly female teacher better than a male one. Since we learn our first languages from our biological mothers (or a mom) we tend to learn better from a female teacher in case of languages. I personally felt better learning from a female teacher when it comes to a language particularly English language throughout elementary, middle and high school. In college I can see that the students who have had a female teacher to teach them English language have better writing and speaking skills. On the other hand I think that mathematics and physics are taught better by a male teacher. Keeping in mind the primal brain capacities of men and women where men have better control of their cerebra than women and women have a greater grip on their emotions and contain the ability to feel deeper and more complex emotions. The sciences and specially mathematics which requires a lot of focus and brain power to understand require a teacher who has better control over their brain and are capable of makeshift intellect. Not that women can’t overcome their default and learn complex things like mathematics and science. Many women have shown to be even more capable of men when it comes to science. But learning mathematics is one thing and teaching it rather transferring one’s knowledge of numbers and equations to another mind is another thing entirely. On the other hand language requires a teacher who is affectionate and understands the needs of a student. Mothers are the first language teachers that a person gets to learn from when they enter this physical world.
Language is the basis of communication and requires being programmed into a human brain at the very core so that one can turn to it whenever in need. Since English is an international language or rather the international language. It can be said without contravention that English is internet’s language so we can say it is the most common language when it comes to correspondence and other forms of conversation. So special attention should be given to teaching it and I believe that it is best taught by a female preferably of an elderly age.

Goodbye 2014

The year 2014 approaches an end. This year has proven to be a very blessed year for me. When I look back, it just looks like yesterday when I started attending Preston University and wrote a blog. I know I should have written more often but I think the previous one came very naturally. One of my teachers who actually read my blog told me it looked like a personal diary. Now when I come to think of it, a blog is actually an online version of one's personal diary or journal. To be honest I never kept a diary growing up. The only diary I was familiar with was my 'homework diary', which was usually put to use as a spare notebook from which one take a leaf out every now and then, One year I had a particularly thick notebook for a homework diary ( which I later used for two more academic years ) on which we used to play tick tack toe.
Well not be sidetracked lets talk about our university. In the years 2011-2013 I was struggling as a young student since I shifted from Cambridge Examination System to the local BISE Lahore. The examination techniques here at the BISE Lahore are very different than at Cambridge. Instead of testing a students abilities in a particular field of study the system is entirely based on rote learning ( which I was never good at ) . Well long story short I flunked the first attempt of my intermediate examinations. Well I passed the supplementary examinations and I was taken in the welcoming and warm arms of Preston University on a breezy February evening. In the university where the testing schemes were familiar to me I performed quite well mirroring my Fsc result, making my parents proud and making me feel good about life again. I was able to ensure a grade point average of 3.1 in the spring semester, the mishap being the cause of the low GPA ( fell off a bench and hurt my arms the night before the paper ). But I proved my worth in the summer semester securing a grade point average of 4.0.
The summers were tough but the winter is proving to be even tougher, the chilly morning are proving to be pretty hard on the students of Preston University where the winter holidays weren't announce until earlier today. Well as the degree program progresses the courses are gonna get harder giving the students lesser time to fool about and to focus on the courses. The Fall semester is coming to an abrupt end I wish it had gone a bit longer.
Good luck with your exams everyone and happy holidays.

Cultural Day aka PAINDU DAY

i started at Preston on 28th February. It was a Friday and my first class was 'college algebra'.
i remember that the whole class welcomed me warmly and at first glance they thought that i was not from Lahore. Strange! I thought. These people are just like me, whats so peculiar about me? Then I started to open up with my batch mates. i learnt that the whole class isn't exactly MY class since us BSCS students and the BBA students take 4 of the courses together in the first semester.

on Saturday we had Pakistan Studies. it is way too advanced than the subject i studied at senior Cambridge (O' Levels). everyone claimed that the lecture was boring and then felt sleepy in that duration because the name of the teacher rhymes with "SOYAA" ( to sleep ). but i actually enjoyed that first lecture.

we have sundays and mondays off. yay i had fun on the weekend. on tuesdays we have English Grammar.
the teacher is nice, supportive and full of knowledge. i found the class very interesting. on wednesday came the real deal. Basic Management. honestly speaking i never took a course of management in my early education but it all came naturally. even the teacher asked me if i had taken a management course or something related to it.  you can judge the amount  of interest i had in that first lecture by the fact that i gave a presentation on the very first day about Katz Managerial Skills and topped the lot.

on thursdays we have Basic IT, the real reason for which i joined Preston. the course outline is very basic but is still challenging. the teacher is young and full of energy so i suppose we'll get along just fine. in the middle of all this i came across a very unique and colorful poster on the notice board. it was a notification about some event called 'PAINDU DAY'. it said that the event will be held on Saturday 15th March in the Technology Campus of our university and the dress is desi and the pass costs 400 PKR bla bla...

at first i thought it was a joke. some sort of scam. that it is some trick the seniors are trying to play on the new comers. while i was giving the entry test ( a formality as the admission officer put it ) i overhead this senior Syed Tehseen talking to the admission officer about the arrangements being made for the event. that was the moment when i realized that it was real and i asked  the admission officer later what this was all about. she clarified that it is basically a cultural exhibition in which everyone would be able to express themselves fully in a very home like environment.

i am still struggling to decide whether i should attend this paindu day or not. i hope i decide soon...
